You don’t need my opinion

It’s tempting to ask your coach “what do you think” during coaching sessions. And sometimes clients do ask me that.

But the truth is, my opinion is irrelevant for your success and can even hinder it.

To achieve the best results during coaching it is crucial that you, the client, find answers and solutions to your problems. I will be your thinking partner and I will help you get to the solutions.

Any tip or advice that I give you might in fact interrupt your own creative thinking. Or it might also be something that doesn’t work for you.

When I was new to coaching I sometimes fell into the trap of thinking I need to say what’s on my mind. I have a solution ready and you might want to hear it.

But it’s not of any help.

If you’re the coachee and you’re wondering what your coach thinks, don’t be surprised if they are hesitant to tell you what’s on their mind.
