When friends and family don’t get it

Have you ever experienced one of those overwhelmingly challenging days where it feels like every conceivable thing goes awry, and all you yearn for is an empathetic ear to vent your frustrations, but somehow, you end up feeling even more exasperated than before?

Yes, we’ve all navigated through those tumultuous times. In the demanding world of leadership, where the stakes are perpetually high and the pressures unyielding, these days can seem all too common. It’s not merely about the minor setbacks; it’s the cumulative effect of constant stress, decision-making, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that can leave even the most seasoned leaders seeking a respite – a genuine connection where they can express their concerns without fear of dismissal or oversimplification.

Unwanted tips vs. the power of coaching

You open up, hoping for a moment of relief, but are met with “Have you tried…?” instead. Or perhaps, they respond with a “In my case…” story, attempting to draw parallels that seem to miss the mark entirely. And then comes the classic pat on the back accompanied by a well-meaning yet ultimately hollow “Don’t worry, it’ll all work out.”

It’s not that our confidants lack concern; it’s that, occasionally, they fail to grasp the full extent of our professional challenges. And that’s perfectly acceptable. They’re not expected to fulfill the role of our coaches or therapists, after all.

Feeling overworked, under-appreciated, or stuck doesn’t have to be your daily norm. And while chatting with your friends or partner has its place, there’s something else that can make a world of difference: actually being heard.

Here’s the deal:

  • as a leadership coach I’m not here to compare stories or brush you off
  • My job is to listen. Really listen. To the stuff that’s bugging you, without jumping to solve it for you.
  • We’ll unpack it together. You talk, I listen. You explore, I guide. No judgment, no unsolicited advice.

Imagine ending your day feeling understood, not just heard; lighter, not loaded with advice you didn’t ask for. That is coaching.

That’s where the magic is. Not in fixing things but in finding your own way through.

So, if you’re tired of the same old advice and ready for a real change, let’s chat. It’s about time you were truly heard.

Your next move could change everything. What’s it gonna be?
