Summary
Is it time to re-evaluate what leadership is all about? Is it a service? or is it more status?
In several recent discussions I have had, the topic was whether leadership needed to be re-evaluated.
Leadership is often
- a reward
- a status symbol
- more power
- more money
- more influence
What if instead your purpose was to serve people? What if it was not about your own goals, but the goals of your team members?
What if there were distinct roles for high performers, allowing them to excel without automatically being placed in leadership positions? And leadership roles for those who genuinely care and support their team members?
How would business performance change if leadership was measured only in terms of human impact rather than operational activity?
We’re going through some tough times and it’s taking a toll on a lot of people. It is also a responsibility that goes beyond measuring job performance.
