What does success really look like?
The answers can be very different, depending on your circumstances or even your values. For some it’s a promotion, being a manager, money, power, family, car, house, time off, holidays, a pet.
But whatever it is, what success can you really enjoy if you can’t enjoy it wholeheartedly? If you’re giving in to doubt? To worry?
If you listen carefully, you will find that your mind is telling you that you’re not worthy, that you need to do more, that people around you are better. Of course, also that someone was successful when they were younger, while someone else will never stop being successful. So are you doing enough? Or are you wasting your potential?
An exercise for you to do right now
Observe all the many stories your thoughts tell you every day.
And then ask yourself: Are they really true?
Stop for a moment and see if you’re thinking them consciously. Are you telling yourself these things on purpose? Or do your thoughts appear out of nowhere, and if so, can they disappear into nowhere?
Observing them without judgement can help to detach.
For … what if true success is peace of mind? Or happiness?
The knowledge that you are not your thoughts?
What would change for you?
