Have you ever had an appointment at say 2.22pm? No?
But surely at 2.15 or 2.30?
Logic would say that 2.22 isn’t a less ‘meetable’ time than the others, yet, even suggesting this would get you some weird looks.
I’ve always wondered why we follow patterns like this, are we simply adhering to a calendar kind of set-up? Does 2.15 look better? Is it easier on the brain?
Perhaps our obsession with ‘meetable’ times reflects a fear of stepping outside a daily structure?
In my work I challenge my clients to push their limitations and beliefs. I also want my clients consider what stories their thoughts are telling them. A coaching session is not following a strict plan. And it doesn’t have a set outcome.
It goes where it goes. With insights and often with surprises along the way.
And I always observe this:
Clients are surprised when I tell them the hour is up.
Uninterrupted time (and that’s key) will let you experience time differently.
