Acceptance brings agency

If you were to give an honest answer to the following question, one without much thought but based on what you are experiencing right now, what would it be, how much acceptance could you muster?

“How do you deal with the challenges you see all around you? Not just in leadership, but in life in general?”

In The Summer Book, Tove Jansson writes:

“There is nothing sentimental about this world. Like the weather, this world only asks to be acknowledged. There is nothing comforting about it, and yet if you are afraid to see it on its own terms, to look to it for comfort, for consolation, you will be worse off than you were before”.

This quote struck me as incredibly timely.

There is no comfort in illusions.

It is in acknowledging and accepting the world you live in that you gain the clarity you need to engage in a meaningful way. It’s acceptance that gives you a sense of agency. Acceptance does not equal giving up, on the contrary. But accepting the situation as is and moving on with clarity.

How do you see it?
