To be or not to be extraordinary

Just yesterday I started following “the school of life” account on Instagram. I do love the content. I used to watch the videos on YouTube all the time, felt inspired, even relaxed and more grounded.

But …

This morning there was a post explaining why you don’t need to be extraordinary.

Ok, maybe there’s some truth to it. And I’m sure Alain de Botton’s explanation will work for many and make a lot of sense.

But can we just admit that most of us, when it comes to our lives or our work or careers, we do want to be extraordinary? We want to look back at our lives and see the impact we’ve made, we want to leave a legacy. We don’t want to be 1 of 8 billions. Even if that is mathematically the truth.

But what we want to be is recognised with all our uniqueness and our individuality. Be seen and heard. Feel acknowledge that we are special in our very own way.

Isn’t this a reason, too, why you want to work with a coach? To help you be your authentic true self? Feel like you can bring your uniqueness to work, every single day. Without judgment, but with honesty and with passion.

That’s what it should be about. For each and everyone of us to feel we can be ourselves. To feel respected and to respect others the way they are. Nothing more, nothing less.

If that’s where you want to get to? Then coaching might be the solution for you. Let’s have a talk and see where you want to be? I can’t wait to hear from you.
