Sometimes your values won’t align with your job’s or your company’s. This can make you frustrated, feel out of control or questioning your every move.
Values don’t always have to align.
It’s important to know your own values. It’s just as important to know what your company or your job stand for.
What matters it whether there is enough overlap between your values and your company’s or job’s values to feel fulfilled and motivated in your work.
It’s important to know whether any misalignment would be acceptable or whether it’s a no-go. If you care about the future of the planet you likely won’t work for a fossil fuel company. On the other hand, if you care about animal rights, you may be willing to work for a company that produces meat products as long as they have high animal welfare standards.
What matters is that you reflect on this and that you are aware of your actions and decisions.
