Understanding what lights you up outside of work can be transformative. It can provide the energy, inspiration, and clarity you need to navigate the challenges of your workday and create a more fulfilling and balanced life. Every day can hold some joy.
This summer, my morning ritual has been a source of profound joy and rejuvenation. There’s something magical about being by the lake at 7 am, as the sun rises, painting the sky with vibrant hues. The swans are still asleep on the shore, the water is calm and glassy, and a sense of peace pervades the air.
After my swim, I take a moment to simply sit and soak in the beauty of my surroundings. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the privilege of experiencing this. For the proximity to nature, the clear water, and the overall sense of safety and serenity.
Instead of rushing into my workday, checking emails, and immediately diving into the to-do list, I prioritize my well-being. I nourish my body with a swim, I nourish my mind with the beauty of nature, and I nourish my soul with moments of quiet contemplation.
The Ripple Effect of Self-Care
This morning ritual has a ripple effect that extends far beyond that hour by the lake. It sets the tone for my entire day, allowing me to approach my work with greater clarity, focus, and energy.
When I prioritize my well-being, I’m not only taking care of myself, but I’m also investing in my ability to serve my clients, my team, and my community. I’m creating a foundation for sustainable success, both personally and professionally.
The Importance of Finding Your “Spark”
We all have our own unique ways of recharging and finding inspiration. It might be a morning walk in nature, a creative pursuit, spending time with loved ones, or simply indulging in a quiet moment of reflection.
The key is to identify what truly lights you up, what brings you joy and a sense of renewal. Then, make it a priority to incorporate those activities into your life. Even if it means adjusting your schedule or saying “no” to other commitments.
Beyond the Hustle
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle. To feel like we constantly need to be doing, achieving, and striving for more. But true success is not just about external achievements. It’s about cultivating inner well-being and creating a life that is both fulfilling and sustainable.
By prioritising your well-being, by finding those activities that light you up, you can create a ripple effect that positively impacts every aspect of your life. You’ll be more present, more focused, more creative, and more resilient in the face of challenges.
The Invitation
So, I invite you to reflect on your own life. What are the activities that bring you joy, that nourish your soul, that make you feel truly alive? What are the things that light you up outside of work?
Make those things a priority. Create space for them in your life, even if it means adjusting your schedule or saying “no” to other commitments.
Remember, your well-being is not a luxury; it’s an investment. It’s an investment in your health, your happiness, your relationships, and your success.
