Have you ever felt like the only one struggling at work while everyone else seems to have it all figured out? What if I told you that this common belief is far from the truth?
Sooner or later we all have such moments. That’s the reality of work life.
What makes it worse is to think that you’re the only one struggling. Without a doubt everyone else is doing fine and that there must be something wrong with you. Or why else would you feel this way? In fact it feels that everyone else was performing at their best. Everyone was getting along with the manager. And everyone obviously enjoyed being at the company.
Let me tell you this: It’s not the case. It never is.
The importance of speaking out
How do you find out? Speak out. And that doesn’t mean a big announcement. When choosing someone to share your struggles with, it’s important to consider a few key factors. Look for someone you trust and feel comfortable opening up to, such as a supportive colleague, mentor, or friend.
Seek out individuals who are good listeners, empathetic, and who understand your work environment. It’s important to choose someone who is non-judgmental and supportive.
This will take a whole lot of pressure off of you. Knowing that there’s nothing wrong with you, but that it’s your work environment having this influence on you is important.
You’re not alone in this. Don’t keep things to yourself in bad moments. Share it and speak out. If not with people internally, talk to friends, family or someone professional. Because confiding in friends and family can be valuable, and sometimes seeking professional help can be essential. If your work struggles persist or impacts your well-being, it could be beneficial to consult a trained professional.
Consider reaching out to a therapist or a coach. Because these professionals can provide a safe space for exploring your concerns. And they can offer guidance, and equip you with strategies to navigate challenging situations.
It does make a difference.
