Sometimes we wake up at night and remember that in a conversation some time (years) ago, we forgot to say something. And then we ruminate over it and it feels like the worst thing ever.
The next day, things seem normal again.
If it’s any help: It’s quiet normal to ruminate at night. That’s when we should be able to relax, but that’s also when have less distraction and we can focus all our attention on one thing. Even if that is stressful to us.
Sometimes we laugh about ourselves, thinking that what keeps us up at night, really isn’t that important.
But, it’s also a sign that you’re under stress. It might even be the brain trying to keep you awake, as to not forget anything important.
If you often wake up in the night and ruminate over things, it’s time to understand the root causes and work on solutions. Be it with a coach or other professional.
Often it is difficult to stop ruminating and staying in stressful moments. When you work with another person, it helps you clear your mind and see possibilities again, where you thought there were none. That’s what makes the work with a coach so useful.
Don’t waste your precious time living with regrets.
