And suddenly several months of coaching have past. Only about 2 months since setting up this website (and the couple of revised versions). And what a ride it has been.
I’m very grateful for the various people I meet and get to work with. Whenever I have a coaching session it is a reminder that this feels like my purpose. I do love it. I do have this passion for people and the work that I do.
And I am very grateful to have this opportunity and to get to choose what I want to do. I know this is not true for everyone.
My goal is to work with as many people, as there are who want to take a step in their own development. Who are ready to work on themselves. Whether that’s working on their own expectations or finding a spark again at work.
That is what makes my work so rewarding. Seeing that spark in the eyes of my clients is so huge. Hearing that “aha-moment” and seeing those feelings of relief and revelation.
Do you follow your passion?
Which brings me to my first thought. Should you consider doing what your passions is? In my case I would have said no. See, I do have a passion for people. And for the work that I do. But I didn’t know that coaching could be my passion.
If three years ago you would have asked me to follow my passion and turn it into a career, I might have ended up being a forester or a mountain guide. Who knows.
I realised coaching is what I wanted to when I had my very own first leadership coaching session. That’s when it clicked. As a result I had my very own “aha moment”. I realised this could be a profession I could be good at without having to compare myself to others. And this was a new feeling.
I knew that people have always been my passion. But that wasn’t enough to give me the direction for a job or career. I used to love my marketing roles. But they always left me thinking, that there were many others who were just as good or even better.
Values over passion?
My clients often talk about their passions. Or they want to understand what their passion is to think of a next step. That’s when I like to talk about values, as I feel they can serve as a more concrete direction for a future career path.
I did lots of work with my coach to understand what my own values are. And it wasn’t even difficult. I could see the same ones coming up over and over again. And it helped me understand situations I found myself in, where I understood I was missing an alignment with my values.
This was an important work for me. As it helped shape the conviction that I wanted to do this intense work with people, with them but mostly for them.
Always looking forward to hearing from my readers and clients. Just send me a comment via email and I’ll be in touch with you.
