One session is not enough

New clients sometimes ask if we can do one session only. Yes, we can. A single session to prepare you e.g. for an important, upcoming work meeting. A single session to prepare you for a salary negotiation.

Yes, that works. But in most cases it is not enough.

Let me explain you why.

As a coached I have learned, that first answers are not the ones that will allow clients to learn, or find solutions. The first answer often lacks an emotional quality that I am looking for. And sometimes it happens that 60 minutes is not enough to dig deeper. Respectively it’s more about one session. A single coaching session often is not enough to really get you to a good place.

As a coach I aim to provide guidance without being intrusive. And this means circling around the issue/solution for a while, before the truth bubbles up.

The recognition of e.g. the true source of an issue, can even happen between sessions. It can happen on your commute home, in the evening while you’re having dinner etc. It can take time.

This is why I like scheduling several sessions. Coaching is not a magic tool that provides you with desired solutions within an hour. My goal is to see continuous progress. And for clients to experience lasting transformation.
