Leadership and listening

Summary

Transform your leadership through the power of active listening. Experience a safe space for self-discovery, unlock your full potential, and build stronger teams through transformative leadership coaching.

Most of us don’t know what it means to be fully listened to (just ask your partner). We’re interrupted, judged, or given unsolicited advice before we can even finish a thought.

But when you give in to silence and stop yourself from giving advice or talking about yourself, that’s when the magic of active listening happens—a core principle of effective leadership coaching.

In my last leadership role, I was really stressed in my 1:1s. I felt the pressure to have all the answers and solve every problem. How else could I prove my worth as a leader?

That was my mistaken assumption.

When I read “The advice trap” by Michael Bungay Stanier, it transformed my approach to leadership. I dared to not just answer right after a question (or what I believed to be a question). Instead, I embraced active listening, holding space for deeper conversations. I would listen a little longer, and even longer, and then ask, “What else is there?”

And to my surprise, I never heard, “Please help me! What should I do now?” On the contrary, there were: well-reflected answers, solutions, and insights emerging—as if they’d always been there.

This is the foundation of my leadership coaching today. I help you to lead with confidence, overcome long-standing challenges, and build stronger relationships with your team through the power of active listening.

By creating a safe space for whatever comes up in your mind—a space free of judgment and the pressure to be right—I help you unlock your own inner wisdom and discover new possibilities.
