Find your ease now

Not knowing how to find your ease right now, is one of the things my clients have in common. And this leads to overthinking and making up stories, which all have the potential to keep you up at night.

Usually this has to do with:

The desire to have more freedom, to be more successful, to be happier. Or to do things that are more in line with their values. The one things this has in common: It is always linked to a future state.

It’s only possible tomorrow, never today, to have or be the version of yourself you think you need to be. Especially if you’re not happy with where you are in life right now. This constant pursuit of an idealised future often leads to burnout and a sense of perpetual dissatisfaction.

But the problem with that is that there’s always tomorrow. There’s always the next day. There is always more to achieve. Another training session to complete. Another person to prove wrong.

Or another promotion, another pay rise. And everything that isn’t good enough will disappear.

Your ideal state will be reached.

Tomorrow never comes, so why not find your ease now

But because there is always tomorrow, it becomes a never-ending chase. It can never be achieved. This constant striving, this relentless ‘someday’ mentality, keeps us in a cycle of fear and anticipation and prevents us from experiencing the present moment.

So what will give you that ultimate satisfaction or happiness?

The realisation that a life of ease is possible in this very moment. This shift in perspective is not about abandoning ambition, but about finding peace within the journey itself.

By seeing external pressures and your own expectations for what they are:

Stories your mind creates. Stories that distract you from the fact that we only have the now. That both the past and the future are constructed in your mind. These stories, often rooted in fear or social conditioning, can be powerful, but they are not inherently true.

Would you like to try a little challenge to help you see this? Try answering this: What will your next thought be?

The moment you try to predict your next thought, you’ll realise that you may not have as much control as you think. This awareness is the first step in reclaiming your agency.

However, you have the choice to acknowledge these thoughts and decide whether or not to let them dictate your experience. Accepting this choice is the cornerstone of mindful living and effective personal development.
