Election results

Election results? Not something I thought I’d end up writing about here on my leadership and non-duality blog. I find it one of the hardest things to listen to someone who has a completely different opinion to mine. Especially these days.

Soon enough the finger-pointing and blaming will start, soon enough you’ll hear plenty of ‘told you so’.

What moments like these, be it political or in any work environment, require are empathy and the willingness to listen to the other side (ok, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow).

I’ve watched the election results come in from afar, while living in this beautiful bubble called Switzerland. I won’t claim to understand the problems of most Americans.

But I can accept any emotion that comes up, accept that not everyone will feel the same way and accept that there’s nothing I can change or do. I should look at these thoughts like the distraction they are and then let them pass.

It’s understandable if you feel deeply about the outcome of the elections today, and those feelings are valid.

Even with different view of things, I believe we all have in common a desire for a better future.

And maybe that’s ground for positivity.
