Why does success often feel like it’s so hard to achieve? Why is success not effortless? Why do you literally have to work yourself to the bone, improve yourself, change yourself, take countless courses… and never have a guarantee of anything?
The lost art of effortless being
But … success can be effortless. As can life. Call it effortless being. The fact that you give in to your thoughts and believe the stories they tell you has the power to make your life difficult. To make it downright miserable. What do you remember about your childhood? Or maybe you have children and you can see it in them?
Effortless being, living in the moment. Good moments, bad moments, it’s not judged. It’s what it is at that moment. Maybe life is difficult for 10 minutes, but after that it’s fun again. And it’s definitely possible to live a life with ease.
The conditioning of effort
But when you get to school, you’re told you have to study, work hard, give it your all, and only then can you succeed. And if you don’t succeed, it’s obviously your fault. And that’s how it continues into adulthood. Work has become a place where only ‘continuous learning’ counts. And no, there is nothing wrong with learning. But it comes with a sense of inadequacy if you’re not constantly doing some sort of course.
It also comes with a sense of an elusive good future. After all, you can only be successful once you have completed a course. The problem is that as soon as you’ve finished the first one, the next one is waiting. And this is all ingrained in us.
Liberation Through Awareness
But you don’t have to go on living with these beliefs. For life also unfolds effortlessly. Or do you have to make life happen? You wake up in the morning and life is there, as it was before you and as it will be after you. Life unfolds without a doer.
So why make it feel like an effort?
The clarity that you gain from observing your thoughts is one of a kind. The recognition that you are not your thoughts, and that the stories your thoughts tell you are nothing more than that: Stories.
A liberating feeling.
Effortless Success As a New Paradigm
Once you see that, there is no going back. But that’s a good thing. Because it comes with the realisation that life can be lived effortlessly. That success can come effortlessly too.
And not with a feeling of heavy weights.
