We’ve all had these moments (I sure have, and sure still do at times). Where we believe at some point someone will come and prove to the world, that we were in fact only an impostor. That we had no clue what we were doing, no qualifications and all our work, our results were us being a fraud. And that someone else was in any case better at the job than we.
This is the impostor syndrome.
In short, it’s feelings of doubts in your own ability and fear of being exposed as fraud. Yet, this outcome will never happen.
I’ve always enjoyed what Seth Godin has to say about impostor syndrome. If you have it, you’re onto something. And that is very grounding. Having these feelings makes you stay humble. It will also help you see how you can improve what you are working on and might even lead to better results.
So, if you still experience impostor feelings, remember it’s a sign of growth. Embrace the opportunity to learn, evolve, and prove yourself wrong. Believe in your abilities, celebrate your accomplishments, and continue striving for excellence.
