“…and then I’m just too tired to do anything in the evening.” It sounds like surviving, rather than thriving.
I overheard this comment at the supermarket this morning. And it’s a sentiment so often expressed. I totally get it. I was in the same place. Living for the weekend, constantly feeling drained.
For many, life has turned into a blend of feeling exhausted at home and being dissatisfied at work.
That can’t be. The great Maya Angelou once said “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style”.
Here’s my coaching question 11 for you: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being ‘not at all’ and 10 ‘completely thriving,’ where does your life stand in terms of thriving?
Answer it spontaneously and then use that as an opportunity to dig even deeper. What does it take to get to the next number? When are you going from surviving to thriving.
Currently, I’m at a 7, aiming for an 8 by spring. By the end of next year, a 9. I wonder, is 10 even achievable? Or perhaps it’s more about the journey than the destination?
