Trust is key in any coaching relationship. It’s so crucial that any success is dependent on it.
Yet, trust usually builds over time. Taking that initial leap of faith can be both exciting and nerve-wracking for coachees. But you have to make it happen.
This shows how important it is to have a discovery call. Both sides have a chance to talk and meet. Without this there should not be any decision on a coaching agreement.
It can even help to articulate when you feel uncomfortable or when you don’t want to elaborate on specific topics. This will also help open up the whole conversation.
A good coach will help create an atmosphere in which you can freely talk, be vulnerable and yet learn and grow. No matter your background or hierarchical level.
While experience and education matter a lot, don’t forget your gut feeling either.
