I once had a boss who would say, “We won’t give up, let’s soldier through” whenever the going got tough. While I agree with this sentiment in some respects, I think it’s important to recognise that there are times when you simply can’t push any further and when you have reached your limit.
In those moments, it’s crucial to stay true to yourself. Knowing when to say “no” or “it’s enough” is not a sign of weakness, but rather a testament to your self-awareness and commitment to your own well-being. It’s okay to take a step back and reassess your situation.
It’s also important to understand that setting boundaries is a crucial step in knowing your limits. By setting boundaries, you are acknowledging what you are and are not willing to tolerate, and this can help you better manage your time and energy.
So, while it’s important to show discipline and not give up easily, it’s equally important to know when to take a step back and prioritise your own well-being. Remember, self-care is not selfish, and taking care of yourself will ultimately help you be more effective and successful in all areas of your life.
